Not only is the film itself packed with stars with the Wild Things being voiced by James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, Forest Whitaker and more, but behind the camera is a bit of an A-list of "who's who" also. In addition to Karen O of Yeah Yeahs Yeahs fame composing the film's original score, American writer David Eggers has joined forces with Jonze on the film's script.

But that's not all Eggers will be providing. It was revealed he will be expanding Sendak's original 16-sentence story into an official novelisation (with Sendak's blessing) simply entitled, The Wild Things. While the book itself is being released in October (in regular and fur-covered editions), this week's New Yorker has published an excerpt from the novel online, Max At Sea, to tide all of us wild things over while we wait.
