Proving that you really can't say no forever, Brisbane commuters have voted to call the new Hale Street Link "The Go-Betweens Bridge" after pioneering Brisbane Indie-Pop band The Go-Betweens. Unlike certain other publicly voted products, this name kind of makes sense. Because a bridge allows people to go between things... get it? Obvious indie music uber fan Lord Mayor Campbell Newman is into it: "The band produced music that just absolutely lives and breathes Brisbane,". The Go-Betweens join the ranks of AC/DC in the "Australian bands with things named after them" stakes. Does this make Brisbane an 'authentic' city in the Carles sense of the word? What other 'alt' sights are there for some 'bros' to see while they're in town?
First you want to head to Fortitude Valley, affectionately known as 'The Valley/Brisbane's gate to hell' by locals. It's not a place you want to tackle sober, as a 'starving writer/musician/designer' your going to want to hit up a bottlo for some cheap brews and go to the Chinatown Carpark Rooftop which even has a park bench to 'chill'/'shoot the shit' on. It's likely you'll see some interstate musos 'getting pumped' before a big gig.
As an authentic vegan, food is obviously a big deal for you and you have two options, firstly The Alibi Room, a short bus trip/medium walk from the valley has a wide range of options as well as the chance of being served by a Brisbane indie rock superstar. Govinda's in the city will serve you a heaped plate of chickpeas/potato curry/rice with desert and a drink for a tenner.
The obvious 'epicenter' of all things 'alt' in Brisvegas/Brisneyland is Ric's Bar in 'The Valley', where it's impossible to discern the sound of broken glass from the sound of broken hearts. Featuring a 'mad chill' downstairs section with local bands most nights and a more intense upstairs with a dj spinning hits from The Beatles/Weezer, your hipster bingo card will be filled within minutes. You'll want to be careful though, that cute indie girl with the ray bans could well be a mainstreamer in disguise. Unlike Sydney and Melbourne Brisbane's bars are all pretty much on the same strip. Meaning you can hit 'em all up in one night if need be. The more r&b oriented clubs are good for some lols after 2am.
To look the part, Brisindie are still into massive thick rimmed glasses and dapper bow-ties are all the rage. Music venues come in three sizes, The Troubadour serves as your standard intimate venue, The Zoo your mid and The Tivoli /The Hi-Fi are 'the big leagues'. Every Brisbane indie musician is likely to tell you how they are "changing the scene", however it's unlikely they'll get a bridge named after them.
Brisbane isn't always the most exciting city, but if you head in with a few 'bros' and a few 'brews' and an open mind about dancing to ironic hip hop (known as "dropping it like it's hot") you'll be feeling pretty 'authentic' in no time.

I had got a dream to start my company, but I did not earn enough amount of money to do it. Thank goo...
