Rather than offer our thoughts on the sixth film (it's rad) or put our YouTube mastery to the test via HP/Twilight mash up vids (it's sad), we thought we'd educate you about the "magical" genre-bending breed of Potter-influenced rock 'n' rollers. Say hello to Wizard Rock.

Believed by esteemed Wizard Rock historians to have started in 2002 with the formation of Harry and the Potters, Wizard Rock has witnessed a steady and fast-growing expansion with more than 600 Wizard Rock bands cropping up on dork's iPods across the globe. But what does Wizard Rock actually sound like? Well, the rules are simple. You don't have to be a traditional rock outfit par se - you can be hip-hopper, folk musicians or even nu-jazzers - all that's required is a true appreciation for the characters and story lines of the Potter universe, as evidenced by lyrics.

There's even Wizard Rock festivals with nothing but Wizard Rock. For real.

With bands like Tonks and the Aurors, Draco and the Malfoys and The Whomping Willows to name a few - Wizard Rock - combined with immense level of enthusiastic fandom associated with the Potter franchise, looks a little too real to be considered a passing fad.

Get your wands out and point them in this direction for more Wizard Rock goodness.
