jobs: Design

Assistant Fashion Editor at Pop Magazine

Company: Pop Magazine

Description: Pop Magazine is a nationwide media company giving away surf, skate and snow radness for free since 2005. Aside from printing magazines, Pop also maintains a decent website, creates the odd film project and generally tries to stay on top of all aspects of the surf/skate/snow culture.

Position: Assistant Fashion Editor

Paid or Unpaid: Unpaid

Location: Melbourne.

Length of contract: 1-month full time - Monday to Friday.

Start date - end date: 5th October to 5th November.

Job Description: We need our own Anna Wintour to help make our fashion editorials legit. As our in house style guru, you'll need to work with the fashion editor to create an editorial theme. Then you'll be responsible for communicating and coordinating your vision between the shoot stylist, makeup artist and hair stylist, photographer, models, brands and editors. The bad news is you will need to be on top of your scheduling, bring in and return samples and make sure the shoot day goes off without a hitch. The good news is, should you succeed, you'll have created 20 pages of swimwear, footwear and product editorial that will be printed in the upcoming issue 14 of Pop. You know somethin'? I think this might just be your masterpiece.

Skills & Competencies:

- Crazy communication skills.

- A level of self motivation and work ethic.

- Ability to make your own plan and stick to it.

- Know how to create a schedule.

- An eye for detail - in photos, communication, everything.

- Style, particularly swimwear and shoes (sneakers).

- A knowledge of the surf/skate/snow industry will help, but is not essential.

- Must have fingers. And be able to bend them. We've been fooled before.
