Description: Blacklab International is a Brisbane-based production company working across Australia and throughout the world. Blacklab specialises in the production of television commercials, music clips and corporate videos, new media development, motion graphic design and production facilitation. Blacklab International acts as a creative hub; bringing together creatives, writers, directors, and filmmakers with a goal to create and innovate within a sustainable business model.
Location: Brisbane.
Position: Director’s Internship.
Paid or Unpaid: Unpaid.
Length of contract: 1 month.
Start date – end date: September-October (taken as 4 concurrent weeks within this timeline or broken up over the two-month period, depending on specific Blacklab project timelines, to be negotiated upon and during appointment).
Job Description: Blacklab International is looking for a dynamic, creative, passionate filmmaker to undertake a month-long Directors Internship. The successful candidate will have an incredible opportunity to work alongside and learn from our very experienced team of directors, producers and other production crew. The bounds of this position is only limited to your vision and commitment.
As part of the internship you will experience the following:
- Pitching & proposal development.
- Pre-production experience in the Blacklab Office.
- First-hand on-set experience.
- First-hand Post-production experience in the Blacklab Office & Post-Production houses.
- Networking opportunities.
- Potential for first-hand director’s experience on a spec production.
Requirements & Preferred experience:
- The candidate should exhibit Creative and Directorial vision.
- An ability to communicate effectively.
- Passion for filmmaking.
- An ability to think laterally and creatively about screen business.
- Genuine interest in all elements of the production process.
- Some production experience preferred.
- Good humour and a strong team ethic.
